The Great Depression spanned from 1929 to the late 1930's. During this time in American history the unemployment rate spiked to 24.9 % in 1933 that is a 778.125% increase since 1929. The over-production of manufactured goods to an american people who lacked the jobs to pay for such items started a viscous cycle of company layoffs to remain a-float. Forcing many families to pack up any valuables they had and search for employment. Family's that were unable to find work found themselves in the long lines of soup kitchens, struggling to survive.
